Stepping through those wide, ornate doors, Gilder couldn't look more out of place. But still, he wore a broad grin, feeling perfectly at ease. The most at ease he'd felt since he left half a month prior. He had done everything but mark the days on his calendar since his last visit with Linneus.
Two weeks. In Gilder's opinion, it'd been a week and a half too long.
But such was the way of life and loving for a hit man. The pay wasn't exactly anything to sneeze at, but The Teahouse was easily the most expensive brothel in Ivore, and Gilder was willing to bet it had quite a bit of the surrounding area beat as well. Not that he was complaining. He'd readily pay twice what he did last time for someone like Linneus. Beautiful and soft, sweet and responsive. Someone tender that helped Gilder feel less hard and cold.
Claret was the first person greet him, just like last time. Gilder actually liked Claret; she was cute, for sure. But a little too innocent and bubbly, like a little girl, still in awe of that all the world has to offer. He couldn't be with a girl like her. She probably said 'Oh' a lot in bed and her eyes would probably get bigger still whenever he did anything, like she was surprised. And after they both came, she'd probably sigh and say 'Wow'. It'd feel too much like corrupting her.
"Afternoon, Mr. Gilder!" Her voice was high and tinkly, and she looked like she couldn't be more pleased to see anybody in the world.
"I told ya, doll. It's just Gilder, alright?" Gilder didn't do formal. Which probably didn't go over too well in a place like this. She'd probably always call him Mister. And Gilder wouldn't blame her for it. But he'd always correct her. The green-haired girl chattered on pleasantly as she lead the way upstairs, and he simply smiled, listening to her happily. He couldn't follow all of what she said, but he did catch the name of the other female consort from last time, and watched as her nose wrinkled in something Gilder would be hard-pressed to call fondness. Not that he was surprised. Even when she was smiling and batting her eyelashes at him last time, Gilder had figured that the blonde woman was less than sweet. She seemed cold and distant; definitely not someone he'd want to pay that much money to be with.
"Linneus? Mr. Gilder is here to see you." She gently tapped on the door Gilder knew to be Linneus'. He could've found it on his own, really, but he guessed there was something about the ritual of being announced. Still, he shifted awkwardly on his two feet, a certain uneasiness settling in the pit of his stomach. Was it just him, or was it taking the boy a while to come to the door? He couldn't decline him an appointment, could he? Not like this anyhow.
And then, the door opened, and Linneus' beautiful, smiling face appeared. Gilder couldn't help but grin back, and he shifted forward, as if pulled by an unknown sort of magnetism. "Heya, dove... Ya miss me?"

Excitement wasn't the right word for it. It wasn't quite enough and it didn't quite capture the...trepidation? No, no, trepidation wasn't right either. Linneus frowned into the mirror, turning the corners of his mouth down farther when it didn't seem like enough. What where the words he'd learned in his early days of writing Xanthe? Elated, delighted, eager...Xanthe, I'm eager to see you again... Linneus' frown deepened of his own accord and he abruptly stopped the thought. Thrilled and nervous. That was the best he could do to describe his current state. He was thrilled and nervous to see Gilder again.
Gilder made his heart flutter and pound in a way it hadn't in a long time. The way he looked at him, the way his hands rested big and heavy on his hips. The way he'd lifted him in his massive arms. It was like a fairy tale. A real fairy tale.
When Linneus looked back up into the mirror to push his earrings in, his reflection smiled back at him. That was nice to see. His fingers fluttered momentarily over his jewelry box, trying to decide what else to put on. The box looked so lacking, so empty without Liard's contributions. He still had a dozen necklaces, rings, and bracelets to choose from, but...
...then again, Gilder had said he preferred he "drop the act." And at the time, Linneus hadn't been wearing that much. He dropped his hand from the box and opted for a few dabs of rosewater over his throat and behind his ear. It was a process, trying to be perfect for someone else.
He was contemplating a different shirt (or maybe a different pair of trousers, perhaps he really should have found a necklace) when the knock came at the door. "Linneus? Mr. Gilder is here to see you." He was up in an instant, only to hold himself back. It never looked good to rush. He took a deep breath before walking to the door. A rush of nervousness washed over him anew the moment before he opened the door. His heart felt like a hummingbird trapped in his ribcage.
"Heya, dove... Ya miss me?"
The hummingbird settled and fluttered its wings. Linneus' smile felt comfortable and genuine on his face. "Terribly." He nodded to Claret and thanked her, stepping back to lead Gilder into the room. He sat on the edge of the bed, legs crossed. "I'll admit I was glad to hear that you were coming back. I had..." he trailed off for a moment and looked down, flushed, but still smiling. "I had hoped you might..."

Gilder wanted to just look at him, to drink him in with his eyes and remember every little detail of him. The length of his eyelashes, the thinness of his fingers, the slope of his waist, the milk of his skin. All of it came together to become nothing short of breathtaking. It was funny, but of all the times he'd thought about Linneus over the last two weeks, his memory was so far from doing him justice. He watched as pink flooded the porcelain cheeks of the man before him, and he couldn't help the slow smile that crept across his face. "I told you I would, didn't I?" he murmured softly as he stepped closer, taking his waist and pulling him close.
He could smell roses on his skin, the same smell as the last time he'd seen him. It instantly cast a wave of nostalgia over him, and the memory or their previous encounter in the same room flooded his mind, his own skin heating at the thoughts. "You smell almost as beautiful as you look" He murmured without thought. No need to censor himself. He'd learned over the years that he could say just about anything in a brothel. And just about every time, his companion would retort with something as cheesy, yet without half the sincerity.
Still, Gilder had a sinking feeling that Linneus could say just about anything and he'd believe him.
He sdearched the crystal blue pools before him momentarily before smiling slowly and raking a hand through his hair. "I thought about you while I was away" he admitted softly, twisting a silky pink tendril of his hair about a finger. His eyes drifted along the curve of his lips, his own tingling in anticipation. But he'd wait. He would wait until he couldn't stand to wait any longer before kissing him. In the mean time, he'd revel in the gift that was just looking at the man. Such a sight to behold.
"Did you think about me?" He asked with the smallest of smirks tugging at the corner of his mouth. Of course, the minute he asked, he wanted to take the question back. He didn't want Linneus to lie to him if he hadn't. And while Gilder may've been ready to believe just about anything he said, he knew all too well how to see through a consort's act. "Honestly... Don't go telling me things you think I wanna hear, ey?" He could take it. If he hadn't thought of him, he could take it.
He'd just have to make sure he gave him a reason to this time.

Linneus settled against his torso, looking down over the broad plane of his chest. He curled a hand over a lapel of his jacket and inhaled deeply. Gilder smelled so good. A little musky, a little bit like earth, but deep and rich. The arm wrapped around his waist kept him close, but instead of making him feel trapped, it made him feel safe. He blinked at that thought. When was the last time he felt genuinely safe with a client?
A client with a belt full of knives, to boot.
"You smell almost as beautiful as you look."
Linneus flushed and looked up at him. A rush of premeditated answers flitted by his thoughts, You look handsome, too...you look even better than I remember...I promise you, I'll look better on the bed... Instead a muttered "thank you" barely made it over his tongue, the tip of which felt glued to the roof of his mouth.
"I thought about you while I was away." He twisted a finger through his hair and Linneus exhaled softly. Everything about Gilder's physiology was massive. When Linneus had first seen him he thought he'd be the type to split him in two. To hold him down and...but he hadn't been. Gilder was...gentle. "Did you think about me?"
Of course he had. While out in the garden with his roses, he'd thought about what Gilder had said. When in bed at night, he'd thought about Gilder's warm chest under his head, his arm wrapped around his waist.
...After Xanthe had left him standing alone in his office, he'd thought about how he'd felt when Gilder had left (satisfied, warm, wanted) in comparison to how he felt then (aching, cold, neglected).
"Honestly... Don't go telling me things you think I wanna hear, ey?"
Oh...Linneus met his eyes again. He'd forgotten that Gilder would expect a response. He shifted up on his tiptoes so that their noses could brush. "Often," he whispered, like it was a secret. "Honestly."
He was tempted to add, 'In more ways than one.' But it felt like a line. If Gilder didn't like the pretenses of consorts, then Linneus wouldn't give them to him.
Instead, he tilted his head, bottom lip brushing Gilder's, asking for a kiss. The way Gilder had kissed him last time...hot, warm, soft. Not demanding or possessive as some clients were wont to kiss. But just...as if he enjoyed the experience of kissing itself. Like kissing wasn't just a precursor to something else. Like kissing was the end goal. Something he enjoyed in of itself. Linneus wanted to be kissed like that again.

"Often. Honestly"
The words were soft and breathy, and they left Gilder feeling warm in his chest. He'd thought of him. This beautiful, delicate flower he held in his arms and had dreamed of more than once had thought of him. Even though said flower was a prostitute, Gilder couldn't help but be captivated by him, nor could he help the elation just being thought of by him warranted.
The brush of their lips was light and pleading, and Gilder couldn't fight the tug of a smile at the corner of his mouth. Slipping a palm to the base of the man's skull, he parted his lips just above Linneus'. The anticipation hummed through his body, electric, until he could feel it in the balls of his feet. It was like being kissed for the very first time; thrilling, heated, and somehow excitingly terrifying. His breath suspended in his chest as he leaned in, his lips soft and pliable beneath his own. It was intoxicating, kissing him.
He held the lithe man impossibly closer to himself, wanting every inch of him as close as their lips were. As he parted them with his own, licking languidly into his mouth, he couldn't stop the soft, slow groan that escaped him. It felt like taking a breath after resurfacing from underwater; Linneus was breathing life into him.
Carefully, he lifted him up off the ground, bracing him against his chest and carrying him to the bed, where he settled near the headboard, still clinging to his petite frame. He wouldn't let him go. He just wanted to stay that way, close enough to be the same person, and taste him, share his breath. When he finally pulled back to look over his face through bleary eyes, his own breath was gone, and he was left panting softly.
Gingerly, as if his own massive hands may break him, Gilder reached up to tuck his hair back behind his ear, searching his eyes. "I've been waiting two whole weeks to feel that again." He murmured as lowly as his voice would allow. A slow and loose slime pulled across his face, and he thumbed slowly over his smooth cheek. "I'm kind of awed by you, you know?"

The kiss was different this time. No less sweet. No less gentle or languid. But their first kiss had been exploratory, learning the feel of each other's mouths, the press of each other's tongue. The feel of palms roving down backs and legs tangled together. This kiss was familiar. Hot and...a shudder ran down Linneus' spine. He slipped his arms around his neck and held him closer, sighing in relief. An ache eased in his chest and he settled closer. Here, he was wanted. Here, he was cared for and allowed to care.
Gilder picked him up and he huffed into the kiss, tightening his arms around his neck and his legs around his waist. He settled into his lap easily, feeling even smaller by how well, how easily he fit in the larger man's lap. When Gilder pulled back, Linneus' breath was coming out in hot pants, a flush spread over his cheeks.
"I've been waiting two whole weeks to feel that again." Gilder's voice was a deep rumble that Linneus could feel against his own chest. The vibration of his words low enough that Linneus could feel its reverberation in his heart. He smiled. Gilder made two weeks sound like an absurdly long time. Like he'd been dying to see him. Linneus was, in a word, flattered. "I'm kind of awed by you, you know?"
If Linneus was flushed pink before he turned outright scarlet at that. He looked down between them, a hand wandering down to his chest, thumbing open the buttons of his jacket. "You're too kind to me, Gilder." He bit his lower lip and chanced a look up. "I'm the one who is in awe of you."
As soon as he said it, he regretted it some. It sounded like a line. Whore talk. He should have phrased it differently.
He busied himself with the rest of Gilder's buttons, pushing the jacket off his shoulders. He admired the way that Gilder's jacket looked - rough, dark, rugged - against his sheets - soft, pale, delicate. The contrast there. He fiddled with the laces of Gilder's shirt and twisted a lace around his finger until it turned red from pressure and eased off. Only then did he look up again.

Gilder bristled slightly at Linneus' words. That wasn't how it was supposed to work. Linneus wasn't supposed to be awed by him. He was supposed to find all the things about him he liked - maybe his tattoo, or the fact that he could lift him, or other endowments - and fixate on them until he could convince himself he liked him enough to spend a few hours with him. The best Gilder could hope for would be unexpected fondness. But prostitutes were not in awe of their clients. And Gilder didn't want to be fed lines.
But the deep flush that flooded the courtesan's cheeks, however, told a different tale. As the rosy-haired man watched intently the front of his shirt, Gilder considered the possibility that he actually meant what he'd said. And as quickly as the thought came, he had to let it go. He had spent one night with this person. He could not afford to be thinking he was something special so soon.
So, without a thought in his mind, he lifted a proad hand to Linneus' cheek, brushing the backs of his fingers over the heated skin before cupping his chin, pressing his thumb to it. "Are you trying to get me naked, dove?" he quipped with a loose grin before leaning down to kiss him, slow and seductive.
With a heavy hand, he fisted the light layer of fabric covering Linneus' torso, pulling it up and breaking lips from his only to guide it over his head, looking down at the expanse of newly exposed alabaster. Linneus' skin was something awesome to Gilder; his own having been so long marred he forgot what flawless flesh looked like. He let his broad palms rove over his chest and down his abdomen before moving slowly up the smooth planes of his back.
It was as if he was learning him. Their last exchange, he'd been too eager, too ready to experience him that he'd forgotten to take his time and wallow in the intricacies of him. His thumbs found the dimples in the small of his back and fit into them perfectly, his palms naturally cupping his backside to pull him impossibly closer by his hips. He could feel the heat of his skin, and suddenly, he wanted it on his own.
"Honestly... I'm trying to get you naked too..."

Gilder's frown worried Linneus. For one, it didn't look right on his face. Didn't quite...fit. Perhaps it was because he'd never seen it there before, but it sent a rush of panic through Linneus' veins. The hummingbird took flight again, ricocheting off his ribcage.
"Are you trying to get me naked, dove?"
Linneus bit his lower lip and nodded. "That...that was the general idea..." What was going to happen now? Would he be upset? Should he have asked? He didn't ask last time, but they were kissing then. Was it different? They were in bed, that had to count for something right? After all, Gilder had bought him. It wasn't as if he were here to drink tea or something...
Linneus' thoughts cut short when Gilder's mouth pressed against his again. He sighed softly. Safe.
He lifted his arms when Gilder guided his shirt over his head, gooseflesh prickling over his skin when fresh air hit it. He could feel Gilder's eyes roam over his torso with his hands and instinctively he thought to cover himself. He hadn't even the chance to flinch before Gilder spoke again, "Honestly... I'm trying to get you naked too..."
Linneus laughed, soft and honest. Gingerly, he trailed his fingertips down to the hem of Gilder's shirt. He checked his eyes briefly before pulling it over his head, Gilder's height and the position bringing them close again.
"Glad we're on the same page," he murmured against his lips. Linneus nudged their noses together and shifted to sit closer to him in his lap, arms wrapped around his neck again. "Kiss me?"
He tilted his head, eyes half open. He was suddenly caught off guard by how badly he wanted to be kissed again. How he wanted his mouth to be swollen from the kiss like overripe fruit. How he wanted Gilder to envelop him as he did two weeks ago. A tremor shook through him and he closed his eyes, breath coming faster in anticipation.

"Kiss me?"
And suddenly, it was as if a beast hand been unleashed. Want surged through Gilder, and he spread a heavy hand over his jaw, pulling him into a deep, hungry kiss. The softest of mewls crept from his counterpart, serving only as fuel to the fire that was now burning in Gilder's chest. Linneus' sounds were absolutely captivating, and each one of them made the man only want him more.
Wrapping arms tightly around him, Gilder shifted their angle, pressing him firmly back against the mattress and sealing his own torso firmly against the lithe form beneath it. He wanted skin on skin, heat begetting heat. As if they had a mind of their own, his hands began to trace the contours of his torso, feeling the smallest of curves and dips before coming between them to shed the final layers of clothing.
After that, they were nothing but skin, heat, and pure sensation.
___________________________________________________
Chests beating in time with one another, Gilder held Linneus desperately close, cradling his head to the breadth of his chest. His nose was buried deep in his rosy hair, and he watched his face closely, carefully. Heart still pounding and ecstasy still coursing in his veins, Gilder wanted nothing more than for this moment to go on forever. To be suspended in this post-coitus bliss, still one with one another, limbs humming and skin warm - it was the closest thing to heaven Gilder could imagine.
"You alright?" he murmured hoarsely, raking a heavy hand through Linneus' hair, reticent to break the silence. Still, he needed some form of validation; proof that it had been as good for Linneus as it was for him.

In a word, Linneus felt...breathless. In a few words he felt exhausted, exhilarated, satisfied, over-stimulated, comfortable, melted...
His chest rose and fell with each heaving breath and he felt as if his heart might really grow wings and fly from his chest it was beating so fast, so hard. He could hear Gilder's heart - a deep, strong throb against his ear. Thu-bump, bump. Tha-bump, bump. Linneus curled a hand over his shoulder, trying to find purchase in the muscle there. Try to anchor himself because if he didn't he might drift away.
"You alright?" Gilder's voice sounded rough and Linneus colored at the memory of which sounds made it so rough. The deep growls, the low groans. Linneus' name moaned between them. Gilder's name moaned back...
Linneus buried his face into his chest, leg tangled around his thigh. If he could, Linneus would wrap himself entirely around him. Keep him there, solid and warm.
"More than," Linneus' response sounded just as hoarse to his own ears. Breathy and high. He sighed. "That was..." He regretted starting the sentiment because he couldn't finish it. Perfect wasn't right, but it was close. Linneus closed his eyes and tilted his head into Gilder's hand. He could write poems, books, epics about Gilder's hands. Broad and rough. Linneus remembered holding that hand. How they'd dwarfed his own. The callouses at the base of each finger. How Gilder could fit his entire hand around Linneus' wrist.
Linneus shuddered, imagining what it would feel like to have Gilder press his wrists into the mattress. He could probably hold him down so easily and...
The thought had to stop there. Linneus could already feel his heart speed up at the thought. He tilted his head up to look at Gilder, pleased to find him returning his gaze. He'd done this last time, just stared at him. By all accounts it should make Linneus feel...uncomfortable. But really it just made him feel admired. Beautiful.
Linneus smiled through a flush. "Hi..." He swallowed, considering his next words carefully. "Was it...?"
...good for you? Did you enjoy it? Did you enjoy me? Will you come back?
